Basketball Recap: River Forest's Luck Changes for the Better on Saturday

There's no place like home for River Forest, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. They managed a 44-40 victory over the Griffith Panthers on Saturday. The win almost wasn't to be: the Ingots were down 28-12 in the second quarter.

It was another big night for D?Yanna Hurn, who went 5 for 9 en route to 18 points in addition to six boards and three steals. She is trending in the right direction considering she's improved her point production for three straight games. Rayna Cary was another key player, putting up 12 points.

When it comes to explaining why Griffith lost, don't look at Maddy Ladendorf. Despite the final result, she went 6 of 12 on her way to 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Esquivel, who posted nine points.

The victory snapped River Forest's losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 7-9 record. As for Griffith, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-8.

River Forest wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 38-29 loss against Tri-Township on the 7th. Griffith has also already played their next matchup, a 49-25 defeat against Munster on the 9th.
