Soccer Game Preview: Pittsburg vs. Mineola

The Pittsburg Pirates will square off against the Mineola Yellowjackets at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Pittsburg played against Liberty-Eylau last Monday and won via forfeit.

Last Friday, Mineola made easy work of Grand Saline and carried off a 6-1 victory. The Yellowjackets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 matches by three goals or more this season.

They hit Grand Saline with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Jonathan Ledesma (2), Michael Camargo (2), Eddie Lucas, and Adrian Rodriguez.

Pittsburg has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 14 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 54 goals over those 14 games. Mineola's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 15-6.

Pittsburg skirted past Mineola 1-0 in their previous meeting back in January of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Pittsburg since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
