Basketball Recap: Artesia's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Hobbs, Artesia was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They snuck past the Lovington Wildcats with a 41-37 victory. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Bulldogs as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Lovington lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Aubrey Aranda, who posted nine points and five rebounds. Aranda is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last five games she's played. Another player making a difference was Ashelynn Borunda, who put up 11 points and four steals.

Artesia's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-11. As for Lovington, they dropped their record down to 12-9 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home.

Artesia will take on Portales at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Lovington, they will challenge Goddard at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Lovington is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.8 points per game this season.
