Softball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Doniphan

Doniphan entered their tilt with Senath-Hornersville on Tuesday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They put the hurt on the Lions with a sharp 15-2 victory. The result was nothing new for the Dons, who have now won four matches by ten runs or more so far this season.

MacKay Jackson was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Dalila Watson, who scored four runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. Another player making a difference was MaKenzie Taylor, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-3.

Doniphan always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Senath-Hornersville only posted an OBP of .250.

Doniphan's record now sits at 6-1. As for Senath-Hornersville, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Doniphan will square off against Thayer at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Senath-Hornersville, they will face off against Campbell at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
