Softball Game Preview: Seton Catholic Central Saints vs. Chenango Valley Warriors

Seton Catholic Central hasn't had much luck against Chenango Valley recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Saints will welcome the Warriors at 5:00 p.m. Chenango Valley took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Seton Catholic Central, who comes in off a win.

Having struggled with four defeats in a row, Seton Catholic Central turned things around against Chenango Forks on Monday. They walked away with a 5-2 victory over the Blue Devils.

Olivia Nazarenus made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. She also brought in an RBI, marking her first of the season.

Nazarenus wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Hayden Buckley, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. That double was Buckley's first of the season.

Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Chenango Valley's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They took a 7-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of Owego Free Academy. Warriors fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the River Hawks since on Wednesday.

Amelia Paske made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Seton Catholic Central's win bumped their record up to 2-6. As for Chenango Valley, their loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 6-3.
