Preview: Mountain View Wildcats vs. Stafford Indians

Mountain View is 8-2 against Stafford since February of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Wednesday. The Mountain View Wildcats will head out on the road to face off against the Stafford Indians at 5:00 p.m. Neither Mountain View nor Stafford posted many points in their last games, so it might be the defenses that decide this one.

Last Monday, things could have been worse for Mountain View, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 31-16 loss to North Stafford.

Meanwhile, Stafford's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their 11th straight loss. They were dealt a 73-22 defeat at the hands of Massaponax. While losing is never fun, Stafford can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 389th, while Massaponax is ranked 48th).

Mountain View's defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 10-10. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 19.0 points per game. As for Stafford, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-14.

Everything came up roses for Mountain View against Stafford in their previous matchup back in January as the squad secured a 55-22 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Mountain View since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
