Vela has gone a perfect 7-0 against Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Southwest recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Sabercats are taking a road trip to challenge the Javelinas at 6:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Vela has four straight wins, Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Southwest has six straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Last Tuesday, Vela sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-6 victory over Rowe.

Emma De La Cruz was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. Elizabeth Morales was another key player, scoring a run while going 3-for-3.

De La Cruz wasn't the only one making solid contact: Vela kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in four consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Southwest's offense. They lost 15-0 to Pioneer on Tuesday.

Vela's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-8. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.8 runs over those games. As for Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Southwest, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-10.

Vela took their win against Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Southwest in their previous meeting back in March by a conclusive 19-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Sabercats since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
