Volleyball Recap: Barnesville Falls to River in First Game of Season

Barnesville unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They lost 3-0 to the River Pilots on Monday. The loss continues a trend for the Shamrocks in their meetings with the Pilots: they've now lost three in a row.

Barnesville was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made River work for it, especially in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 26-24, 25-18, 25-23.

Avery Bliss paced Barnesville's offense, picking up 12 kills. Bliss got some help from Londyn Gibson and her 31 assists. Gibson was also solid from the service line: she led the team with two aces.

Barnesville wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 3-0 defeat against Shenandoah on the 19th. As for River, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-1 win against Bellaire on the 19th.
