Football Game Preview: Gardiner Tigers vs. Cony Rams

Gardiner hasn't had much luck against Cony recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Tigers will challenge the Rams at 7:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few points on average (Gardiner 12.1, Cony 14.3) so any points scored will be well earned.

Gardiner is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Maine's top teams: Foxcroft Academy, who was ranked 23rd at the time (Gardiner was ranked 20th). The Tigers slipped by the Ponies 14-13 on Friday.

Meanwhile, Cony strolled into their game on Friday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They breezed past Lawrence to the tune of 46-14. The result was nothing new for the Rams, who have now won five games by 32 points or more so far this season.

Cony's win bumped their record up to 7-0. As for Gardiner, their victory bumped their record up to 6-1.

Gardiner lost to Cony on the road by a decisive 21-6 margin when the teams last played back in October of 2024. Can the Tigers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
