Basketball Game Preview: Bear Lake Bears vs. Evanston Devils

The Bear Lake Bears and the Evanston Devils will compete for holiday cheer at 7:40 p.m. on Thursday. Bear Lake will come in still looking for their first win of the season.

Bear Lake is headed into the matchup having just suffered their biggest defeat since January 5th last Saturday. They were outmatched by Teton and fell 66-39.

Despite their loss, Bear Lake saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Broxton Birch, who posted eight points, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaden Andersen, who earned nine points.

Even though they lost, Bear Lake smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in ten consecutive games dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, Evanston was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Saturday as they fell 48-44 to Central. The Devils have struggled against the Indians recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Evanston now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Bear Lake, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-3.
