Basketball Game Preview: Herrin Tigers vs. Eldorado Eagles

The Herrin Tigers will venture away from home to square off against the Eldorado Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Herrin will be strutting in after a victory while Eldorado will be coming in after a loss.

It was a proper cat-fight when Herrin faced off against Meridian on Friday. The Tigers took down the Bobcats 69-52. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Tigers' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 210th, while the Bobcats are ranked 608th).

Meanwhile, Eldorado was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. The matchup between the Eagles and Anna-Jonesboro didn't end well, with the Eagles falling 68-52.

The win made it two in a row for Herrin and bumps their season record up to 14-7. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.5 points over those games. As for Eldorado, their loss dropped their record down to 7-14.

Herrin came up short against Eldorado when the teams last played back in December of 2016, falling 57-47. Can the Tigers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
