Softball Recap: Metro-East Lutheran Takes a Loss

Metro-East Lutheran extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 4-11 in the process. They lost 15-0 to the Red Bud Musketeers. If the Knights were looking for revenge after losing 12-1 to the Musketeers when the teams met back in May of 2019, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Red Bud, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 21-7. The result was nothing new for the Musketeers, who have now won 11 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

For Red Bud's part, Olivia Geralds was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 11 over four innings pitched. Geralds has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 18 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, one triple, and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ava Wagner, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Crewe Wagner was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Metro-East Lutheran has already played their next game (against Mulberry Grove), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Red Bud, they have also already played their next contest, a 10-0 win against Carbondale on the 14th.
