Basketball Recap: Highland Tech Comes Up Short

After flying high against Langtree Charter Academy last Wednesday, Highland Tech came back down to earth. The Highland Tech Rams fell to the Shelby Golden Lions 55-50. The defeat continues a trend for the Rams in their matchups with the Golden Lions: they've now lost nine in a row.

Despite the loss, Highland Tech still got an impressive performance from Elijah Sherrill, who posted 34 points. That was a full 68% of Highland Tech's points, marking the eighth time in a row he's had more than a third of the team's points.

Shelby found their leader in sophomore Immanuel Collins, who scored nine points in addition to six assists and five rebounds. Those six assists set a new season-high mark for Collins. Another player making a difference was Lorenzo Roseboro, who put up ten points and five boards.

Highland Tech's loss dropped their record down to 6-8. As for Shelby, they pushed their record up to 7-5 with the win, which was their third straight at home.

Highland Tech wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 52-35 victory against Cherryville on the 14th. As for Shelby, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 72-53 win against East Gaston on the 14th.
