Basketball Recap: Hyannis Takes a Loss

Hyannis played a tough game on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They came up short against the Ainsworth Bulldogs, falling 48-25. The Longhorns' defeat continues a trend for the team, making it three in a row.

Ainsworth's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Gracyn Painter, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 12 boards. What's more, Painter also racked up six assists, the most she's had since back in January of 2024. Another player making a difference was Preselyn Goochey, who went 6 of 15 en route to 14 points and five steals.

Hyannis' loss dropped their record down to 5-9. As for Ainsworth, their victory ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-11.

Hyannis will welcome Crawford at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Ainsworth, they are taking a road trip to take on Niobrara/Verdigre at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. That match will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Delani Runnels and Painter.
