Basketball Recap: Kyra Smith-Goard's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Shaw over Garfield Heights

Shaw was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They took a 42-29 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Garfield Heights Bulldogs. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cardinals this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 53-44 back in December of 2024.

Shaw lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Kyra Smith-Goard, who posted 14 points.

Among those leading the charge was Logan Price, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten boards. Another player making a difference was A'Layah Greathouse, who earned six points.

Shaw's defeat dropped their record down to 2-15. As for Garfield Heights, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-7.

Shaw has already played their next match, a 48-28 loss against Bedford on the 1st. As for Garfield Heights, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 60-29 victory against Fuchs Mizrachi on the 30th.
