Softball Recap: Cedar Cliff Triumphs

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against State College, Cedar Cliff was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They came out on top against the Mifflin County Huskies by a score of 8-3. This was a revenge game for the Colts: when they faced off against the Huskies two weeks ago, they had to take a 18-8 loss.

Isabelle Keys spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on eight hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Brooke Martin, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI and one double. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Maddy Billus, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

Cedar Cliff's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-14. As for Mifflin County, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-9-1.

Looking ahead, Cedar Cliff will head out to take on Chambersburg at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. The Trojans' pitching crew has only allowed 2.3 runs per game this season, so the Colts' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Mifflin County, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Mount Union at 5:00 p.m.
