After a string of five wins, Northgate's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They came up short against the Apollo Ridge Vikings, falling 14-1. Having soared to a lofty 17 runs in the game before, the Flames couldn't push the score so high this time.

Northgate saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gracie Auth, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-2.

Northgate's loss dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Apollo Ridge, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record up to 7-1.

Coming up, Northgate will be playing in front of their home fans against South Allegheny at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Flames' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Gladiators have averaged an impressive 11.7 runs per game this season. As for Apollo Ridge, they are taking a road trip to challenge Brentwood at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Spartans have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.25 runs per game on average), something the Vikings will no doubt try to take advantage of.
