Baseball Recap: Marsh Valley Snaps Five-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

Marsh Valley dropped their record down to 25-4 on Saturday, which also ended the team's five-game streak of wins on the road. They took a 5-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Fruitland Grizzlies. If the Eagles were looking for revenge after losing 4-0 to the Grizzlies when the teams met back in May of 2017, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Fruitland, their victory was their 25th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 28-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games.

For Fruitland's part, Coye Coffman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on three hits. Coffman has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Fruitland let Owen Baker and Quinn Hood run wild. Baker got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI, while Hood went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

As of now, neither Marsh Valley nor Fruitland have any future games scheduled.
