After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Northside, West Blocton was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They put the hurt on the Homewood Patriots with a sharp 13-5 win. Considering the Tigers have won 13 games by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Khloe Forsythe and Kimora Harrell made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, Forsythe didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. Meanwhile, Harrell pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two hits in six consecutive appearances. At bat, Forsythe scored a run while going 2-for-4, while Harrell went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was Harrell's first of the season.
In other batting news, West Blocton got a massive performance out of Crimson Calhoun, who scored three runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-5. Those three stolen bases gave Calhoun a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacey Register, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.
West Blocton was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .457. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
West Blocton's record now sits at 18-10. As for Homewood, their loss dropped their record down to 13-10-1.
West Blocton and Homewood should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Alabama Rankings. The Tigers (ranked 88th) will meet Bibb County (ranked 222nd) at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Homewood will face off against Briarwood Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday with a big rank advantage (128 vs. 294).
