National Cathedral won the last time they faced Sidwell Friends and things went their way on Tuesday too. National Cathedral narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Sidwell Friends 5-4.

Ryan Walker spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on five hits and racked up eight Ks.

At the plate, National Cathedral's victory was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Andie Gerson, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-2. Those two runs gave Gerson a new career-high. Another was Talia Schvimmer, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one RBI.

The win got National Cathedral back to even at 1-1. As for Sidwell Friends, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. National Cathedral is set to square off against their familiar foe Flint Hill at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Sidwell Friends will face off against rival Holton-Arms at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday.
