Baseball Recap: Dwyer Gets the Win

Dwyer was not the first on the board on Thursday, but they got there more often. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the St. Alban's Centurions 4-3. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Panthers.

Kole Griffin made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over 4.2 innings pitched. Griffin was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, Dwyer let Colten Stephens and Rocco Bianco run wild. Stephens went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI, while Bianco scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Bianco has become a key player for Dwyer: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 3-5 otherwise.

The win got Dwyer back to even at 6-6.

Coming up, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Dwyer Panthers face off against Royal Palm Beach Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Dwyer is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.3 runs per game this season. St. Alban's does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
