Baseball Game Preview: Tell City Marksmen vs. Gibson Southern Titans

Tell City is 1-8 against Gibson Southern since April of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Marksmen are taking a road trip to square off against the Titans at 5:30 p.m. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Pike Central hit Tell City with a four-run third inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Marksmen fell 6-1 to the Chargers. Surprisingly, this marked the Marksmen's fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Tell City saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Drew Greulich, who went 1-for-3 with one run.

Meanwhile, Gibson Southern fell victim to Jasper and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They fell just short of the Wildcats by a score of 1-0. The Titans' loss signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.

Brogan McClellan was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

Tell City's defeat dropped their record down to 6-9. As for Gibson Southern, their loss dropped their record down to 15-5.

Tell City suffered a grim 19-3 defeat to Gibson Southern when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Marksmen avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
