Baseball Recap: Cleveland Takes a Loss

Cleveland extended their losing streak to four on Monday, dropping their season record down to 4-10 in the process. They came up short against the Nathan Hale Raiders, falling 10-1. The Eagles were not able to make up for their defeat to the Raiders from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

As for Nathan Hale, the victory got them back to even at 7-7-1. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by nine runs or more this season.

For Nathan Hale's part, they got a great performance from Jack Dire as he struck out 14 batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Dire has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Finn Leach, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Julian Gonzalez, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Coming up, Cleveland will face off against Ingraham at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Rams have averaged an impressive 7.2 runs per game this season. As for Nathan Hale, they will head out to face off against Shorecrest at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
