Basketball Recap: Mesa Verde Mavericks vs. Highlands Scots
Mesa Verde lost against Highlands back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Mesa Verde Mavericks were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 47-46 to the Highlands Scots. While the Mavericks didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Scots 17-11 in the first quarter.

Several Mavericks players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Will Dickinson, who posted 12 points. The dominant performance gave Dickinson a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethaniel Iglesias, who put up ten points.
Mesa Verde's defeat dropped their record down to 3-12. As for Highlands, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season.
Mesa Verde will look to defend their home court on Friday against Vacaville Christian at 7:30 p.m. As for Highlands, they are taking a road trip to face off against Woodland Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Woodland Christian knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past six contests -- so hopefully Highlands likes a good challenge.
