Softball Game Preview: Huron Chiefs vs. Linden Eagles

The Huron Chiefs will take on the Linden Eagles in a tournament on Saturday. The last three games Huron has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

On Thursday, Huron needed a bit of extra time to put away Riverview. They won by a run and slipped past the Pirates 12-11. Huron's win was all the more impressive since the Pirates were averaging only 3.26 runs allowed on the season.

Huron got a massive performance out of Ava Russo, who got on base in all six of her plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That home run marked the first that Russo has launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Catherine Shore, who fired off two home runs and three RBI while going 2-for-5.

Huron always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .543. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Owosso hit Linden with a four-run fourth inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Eagles came up short against the Trojans, falling 11-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Eagles have suffered since April 23rd.

Lilly Ciesielski (2028) and Addi Piotrovsky (2029) stepped up to the plate in a big way. Ciesielski (2028) went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base, while Piotrovsky (2029) got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Macy Common (2029), who went 2-for-3 with one home run.

The victory got Huron back to even at 4-4. As for Linden, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 16-8.
