Preview: Nelsonville-York Buckeyes vs. Trimble Tomcats
Nelsonville-York and Trimble are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2018, but not for long. The Nelsonville-York Buckeyes will be home for the holidays to greet the Trimble Tomcats at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Nelsonville-York focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Thursday.
On Thursday, Nelsonville-York didn't have too much trouble with Meigs on the road as they won 66-49.
Nelsonville-York relied on the efforts of Alayna Okulich, who scored 18 points along with nine rebounds and three steals, and Airah Lavy, who scored 31 points along with eight rebounds and six assists. That makes it six consecutive games in which Lavy has scored at least 25% of Nelsonville-York's points. Another player making a difference was Madi Pidcock, who scored five points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, Trimble's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 54-22 loss at the hands of Waterford. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Trimble has scored all season.
The win got Nelsonville-York back to even at 3-3. As for Trimble, they bumped their record down to 2-3 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road.
Nelsonville-York was able to grind out a solid victory over Trimble when the teams last played back in January, winning 54-41. Does Nelsonville-York have another victory up their sleeve, or will Trimble turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
