Basketball Recap: Unicoi County Takes a Loss

Unicoi County was the 75-60 winner over Mitchell when they last played one another last Saturday, but their luck changed this time around. The matchup between the Unicoi County Blue Devils and the Mitchell Mountaineers didn't end well, with the Unicoi County Blue Devils falling 69-54. While the Blue Devils didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Mountaineers 15-10 in the first quarter.

Despite the loss, Unicoi County still got an impressive performance from Jackson Simmons, who posted 22 points and six boards. Simmons has been hot recently, having posted 22 or more points the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Koda Cutlip, who had 13 points and eight rebounds.

Unicoi County's loss dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Mitchell, the win got them back to even at 2-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Unicoi County will host Tri-Cities Christian at 8:00 p.m. on Monday. One thing working in Tri-Cities Christian's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season. As for Mitchell, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Madison at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
