 Elkin is 1-9 against East Wilkes since April of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit  on Tuesday. The Elkin Buckin' Elks will head out on the road to  face off against  the East Wilkes Cardinals at 6:00  p.m. Both teams are strolling into their  games after big wins in their previous games.
 Elkin was handed a two-point  loss in their last  contest, but they sure didn't let that happen against North Stokes  on Friday. Elkin's pitcher stepped up to hand North Stokes  a   15-0 shutout. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for Elkin considering their one-run performance the  match before.
  Karly Gentry made a big impact no matter where she played. She  didn't allow a single  earned run and  only one  hit while striking out eight over four innings pitched. Gentry was also big at the plate,  going 1-for-3 with two  stolen bases, two  RBI,  and a  double.
 In other batting news,  the team  relied heavily on  Lily Robbins, who  went 1-for-3 with a  home run, two  runs,  and a  stolen base.  Macy Lane was another key contributor,  going 2-for-3 with three  RBI and a  double.
 Meanwhile, East Wilkes came tearing into  Thursday's  matchup with seven straight wins  (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.1 runs) and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Granite Bears 15-0. East Wilkes might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won six games by seven  runs or more this season.
 Elkin pushed their record up to 8-4 with that  win, which was their third straight  at home. Those victories were due in large part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as  they  averaged 14.7 runs per game. As for East Wilkes, their victory bumped their record up to 11-2.
 Elkin came up short against East Wilkes in their previous meeting  back in March, falling  5-1. Can Elkin avenge their  defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
