Basketball Recap: Malverne Takes a Loss

Malverne was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 65-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Friends Academy Quakers. The Mules were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Quakers earlier this season, when they won 63-56.

Friends Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Eyan Valadez, who posted 22 points and five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Chase O'Brien, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 16 rebounds.

Malverne now has a losing record at 2-3. As for Friends Academy, they pushed their record up to 8-4 with the victory, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season.

Malverne will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Lawrence at 7:00 p.m. on January 28th. As for Friends Academy, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 76-74 loss against Garden City on the 19th.
