Basketball Recap: Mentor Comes Up Short

Mentor lost against Jackson back in December of 2019 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Mentor Cardinals might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting the Jackson Polar Bears an easy 67-46 win. While losing is never fun, the Cardinals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 116th, while the Polar Bears are ranked 29th).

Despite the loss, Mentor still got an impressive performance from Nina Rodriguez, who posted 11 points along with eight rebounds and five assists. Those eight boards gave Rodriguez a new career-high. Keira Coleman was another key player, putting up six points.

Mentor's defeat dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Jackson, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-2.

Mentor wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 55-41 win against Perry on the 28th. As for Jackson, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 68-58 victory against McKinley on the 30th.
