Baseball Recap: Pandora-Gilboa Rockets vs. Perry Commodores
Pandora-Gilboa had lost 17 straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Saturday they dropped their record down to 1-20 to make it 18. They came up short against the Perry Commodores, falling 9-3. If the Rockets were looking for revenge after losing 7-3 to the Commodores when the teams met back in May of 2015, then they'll just have to keep looking.
Pandora-Gilboa saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Parker Gallaspie, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs. Another was Tressel Grothause, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI.
As for Perry, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 13-4. The result was nothing new for the Commodores, who have now won seven matches by six runs or more so far this season.
On Perry's side, they got a massive performance out of Conner Patrick, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most runs Patrick has posted since back in April. Sucarious Doughty also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Looking ahead, Pandora-Gilboa will challenge Fairview at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Perry, they will take on Lima Central Catholic at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
