Softball Game Preview: J.R. Tucker Tigers vs. Highland Springs Springers

The J.R. Tucker Tigers are taking a road trip to challenge the Highland Springs Springers at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. J.R. Tucker is coming into the match hot, having won their last five games.

J.R. Tucker took a 12-run defeat the last time they faced off against Freeman, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Tigers had just enough and edged out the Mavericks 5-4 on Thursday. The game was the first time the Tigers have beaten the Mavericks on their field since March 25, 2022.

Kendall Shockley was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over seven innings pitched. Shockley was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double.

In other batting news, Corinne Lewis was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Wednesday just wasn't the day for Highland Springs' offense. They lost 16-0 to Mechanicsville on Wednesday. The contest marked the first time this season in which the Springers were not able to get on the board.

Highland Springs' loss dropped their record down to 8-6. As for J.R. Tucker, their record is now 5-8.

J.R. Tucker might still be hurting after the 11-3 defeat they got from Highland Springs when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Tigers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
