Basketball Game Preview: Portage Northern Huskies vs. Parchment Panthers

The Portage Northern Huskies will face off against the Parchment Panthers at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Portage Northern will bounce into Tuesday's matchup after beating Mattawan, who they had gone 0-9 against in their nine prior meetings. Portage Northern slipped by Mattawan 39-38 on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Parchment hadn't done well against Hackett Catholic Prep recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Parchment walked away with a 45-32 win over Hackett Catholic Prep. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Panthers' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 417th, while the Fighting Irish are ranked 64th).

Portage Northern's win ended a ten-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-19. As for Parchment, their victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-7 and their overall record up to 8-11.
