Baseball Game Preview: Midlothian Trojans vs. Hanover Hawks

Midlothian is 0-4 against Hanover since April of 2015 but things could change on Wednesday. The Trojans will welcome the Hawks at 5:00 p.m. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Midlothian sitting on five straight wins and Hanover on eight.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Midlothian and Powhatan meet (five straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Tuesday. The Trojans had just enough and edged out the Indians 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Trojans have posted against the Indians since March 22, 2022.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Hanover). Their pitchers stepped up to hand Henrico a 30-0 shutout on Monday. Considering the Hawks have won five games by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Hanover's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-1. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.2 runs over those games. As for Midlothian, their win bumped their record up to 8-4.
