Baseball Recap: Workman Lobos vs. Edgewood Lions
Workman had lost four straight at home, but on Friday they dropped down to 2-13 to make it five. They lost 16-0 to the Edgewood Lions. Considering the last time the Lobos couldn't score was back in March, the team can't take the result too hard.
As for Edgewood, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-8 record this season. Considering they have won eight games by more than seven runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
For Edgewood's part, Raymond Tafolla made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out ten over seven innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Tafolla has posted since back in March. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season.
In other batting news, Ricky Bocanegra and Noah Ramirez did most of the damage at the plate: Bocanegra went 2-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs, while Ramirez went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. Edgewood is undefeated when Ramirez posts two or more runs, but 2-8 otherwise. Nathan Martinez was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
