Preview: Knightdale Knights vs. Millbrook Wildcats

Knightdale is 0-8 against Millbrook since November of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Knightdale Knights will be playing in front of their home fans against the Millbrook Wildcats at 7:45 p.m. Knightdale will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 121st, while Millbrook is ranked 25th).

Knightdale unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of Heritage by a score of 53-50. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat Knightdale has suffered yet this season.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Brandon Adams, who scored nine points along with 19 rebounds and four blocks. He continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Khaim Taylor was another key contributor, scoring ten points.

Millbrook posted their biggest win since December 21, 2023 on Tuesday. They really took it to Wakefield for the full four quarters, racking up a 75-46 win on the road. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Millbrook has posted against Wakefield since November 26, 2019.

Millbrook's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Colt Langdon led the charge by scoring 18 points. Langdon is absolutely dominating the point category: he's posted at least 15 every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Alex Olander, who scored 14 points.

Knightdale's loss dropped their record down to 11-5. As for Millbrook, they pushed their record up to 10-6 with that victory, which was their seventh straight on the road.

Friday's match will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Isaiah Green and Langdon. Green has been dynamite this season: he has averaged 11.8 points, 3.9 steals, and 2.9 rebounds. For his part, Langdon has averaged 27.3 points.

Knightdale came up short against Millbrook in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, falling 76-63. Can Knightdale avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
