Recap: Pierce City Eagles vs. Marionville Comets
The Pierce City Eagles's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their third straight loss. They received a tough blow as they fell 62-43 to Marionville. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Pierce City in their matchups with the Comets: they've now lost three in a row.
Marionville got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Dally Pomeroy out in front who scored 15 points along with seven steals and five rebounds. Pomeroy is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. Lucy Newberry was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with five steals.
Pierce City's defeat dropped their record down to 12-7. As for Marionville, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 18-4.
Pierce City will head out on the road to take on the Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Missouri (Stockton is ranked 280th, while the Eagles are ranked 271st). As for Marionville, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Diamond has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 513 points over their last eight matches.
