Softball Game Preview: Old Lyme Wildcats vs. Ledyard Colonels

The Old Lyme Wildcats will venture away from home to take on the Ledyard Colonels at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

On Monday, Old Lyme came up short against Stonington and fell 5-2.

Meanwhile, Ledyard played in-conference for the first time on Tuesday and got just the result they were looking for. They walked away with an 11-6 win over East Lyme. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Colonels.

Alexia Lemmon made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up five earned (and one unearned) runs off ten hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three doubles, and three RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Faith Dalton was incredible, going 2-for-4 with two triples, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2025. Another player making a difference was Skylar Cimino, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two triples and two runs.

Ledyard was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .484. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in three consecutive matchups.

Ledyard's record is now 9-7. As for Old Lyme, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-6.

Old Lyme might still be hurting after the 13-1 loss they got from Ledyard when the teams last played back in April of 2017. Can the Wildcats avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
