Baseball Game Preview: San Gabriel Matadors vs. Whitney Wildcats

The San Gabriel Matadors will face off against the Whitney Wildcats at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with three losses in a row, San Gabriel turned things around against Verbum Dei Jesuit on Saturday. They walked away with a 5-1 victory over the Eagles.

Meanwhile, Whitney hadn't done well against Western recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Wildcats blew past the Pioneers 14-2. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Wildcats' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Jacob Nunag was incredible, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Camron Raufdeen, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Whitney kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are 5-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

San Gabriel's win bumped their record up to 5-17. As for Whitney, their victory ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-13.
