Recap: Prospect Ridge Academy Miners vs. Platte Valley Broncos
This season hasn't been kind to The Prospect Ridge Academy Miners, who are still winless after their ninth game. They were dealt a 55-7 defeat at the hands of Platte Valley on Thursday. Prospect Ridge Academy was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 28-7.
Chase Knopf threw for 88 yards and a touchdown. Suvit Taware was his top target, picking up 35 receiving yards.
Platte Valley's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was JOSH EAGLETON, who picked up 57 receiving yards and two touchdowns, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Another player making a difference was REGAN EDSTROM, who threw for 65 yards and three touchdowns.
The team's defense also helped out by holding Prospect Ridge Academy to a paltry 144 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Platte Valley's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out four times before it was all said and done. The heavy lifting was done by BRYANT BEAMAN and JAYCOB CHAVARRIA-COGBURN who racked up four sacks between them.
Prospect Ridge Academy's loss was their ninth straight at home (dating back to last season), which bumped their record down to 0-9. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 8.2 points per game. As for Platte Valley, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 5-4 record this season.
