Baseball Recap: Exeter Continues Home Dominance on Friday

Exeter strolled into their game on Friday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They blew past the Trinity Pioneers 11-5. The Blue Hawks have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Pioneers, too.

Exeter got a great performance from Nolan Engler as he tossed 5.2 innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Hayden Schimoler, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of John Bakker, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.

Exeter's win was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-0. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Trinity, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-2.

Exeter and Trinity should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps New Hampshire Rankings. The Blue Hawks will face off against Merrimack at 4:00 p.m. on Monday with a big rank advantage (2 vs. 56). Meanwhile, Trinity (ranked fifth) will meet Nashua North (ranked 51st) at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
