Baseball Recap: Anderson Comes Up Short

Anderson had lost seven straight at home, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 1-14 to make it eight. They lost 19-0 to the Yreka Miners. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Miners this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 23-0 on Tuesday.

As for Yreka, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-13. With that win, they brought their scoring average up to 6.6 runs per game.

For Yreka's part, Klayton Rizzardo was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the most strikeouts Rizzardo has posted since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, earning one RBI, one run, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Brody Zediker was a standout: he went 4-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. He has become a key player for Yreka: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 3-13 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Laydon Luce, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one double.

Anderson didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, an 18-3 defeat against University Prep on the 6th. As for Yreka, they have also already played their next contest, a 21-7 victory against Central Valley on the 6th.
