George Washington is 9-1 against Riverside since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Patriots will welcome the Warriors at 6:00 p.m. George Washington is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.6 runs per game this season.
George Washington was handed a eight-run defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 win over Scott. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Patriots have posted since April 1st.
Lauren Ballard spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on seven hits.
On the hitting side, George Washington's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Izzie Casto, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.
George Washington hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are 6-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.
Meanwhile, Riverside waltzed into their game on Monday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They blew past the Cougars 13-1. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won ten contests by seven runs or more so far this season.
Haylee Mullins made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits (and only one walk). Those seven strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
In other batting news, Lydia Davis was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those two runs gave her a new career-high. Mia Davis was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
Riverside pushed their record up to 15-6 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.2 runs over those games. As for George Washington, their victory bumped their record up to 10-6.
Tuesday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. George Washington hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .351. However, it's not like Riverside struggles in that department as they've averaged .415. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
George Washington came out on top in a nail-biter against Riverside in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, sneaking past 8-7. Will the Patriots repeat their success, or do the Warriors have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
