Kirtland hasn't had much luck against Crestwood recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Hornets are taking a road trip to challenge the Red Devils at 5:00 p.m. Kirtland is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.8 runs per game this season.

Kirtland came up short against West Geauga on Monday, falling 12-2. The Hornets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Boyd Kennedy made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole two bases while going 3-for-3.

Meanwhile, Crestwood was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss dating back to last season. They took an 11-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of Cardinal.

Keli Lee and Kayleigh Helm stepped up to the plate in a big way. Lee scored a run while going 2-for-3, while Helm went 1-for-4 with three RBI and one double. Lee also hit a double, marking her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Audrey Julian, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Crestwood's defeat dropped their record down to 0-8. As for Kirtland, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Crestwood's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Kirtland hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .315. It's a different story for Crestwood, though, as they've only averaged .227. Will they be able to contain Kirtland's hitters?

Kirtland came up short against Crestwood in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, falling 7-2. Can the Hornets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
