Softball Recap: Temple Christian Eagles vs. Lake Country Christian Eagles
Temple Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost an 8-7 heartbreaker at the hands of Lake Country Christian. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against Lake Country Christian this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-11 back in March.
Avery McElligott spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and three unearned) runs on ten hits and racked up eight Ks.
At the plate, Briley Esskew was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one triple, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Kendyl Abernathy, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.
Temple Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Lake Country Christian, their win bumped their record up to 4-8.
Coming up, Temple Christian will take on Lubbock Christian at 2:00 p.m. on Friday.
