The Aquinas Blugolds will square off against the Luther Prep Phoenix at 0:00 a.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Aquinas comes in on nine and Luther Prep on seven.
Aquinas put the finishing touches on their seventh blowout victory of the season on Friday. They breezed by New Glarus/Monticello at home to the tune of 42-6.
Aquinas' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but David Malin led the charge by rushing for 88 yards and two touchdowns on only nine carries. Kyle White was another key contributor, rushing for 105 yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Luther Prep narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Westby 21-18.
Luther Prep's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Micah Ziemer, who picked up 105 receiving yards and a touchdown. The team also got some help courtesy of Ben Vasold, who threw for 178 yards and two touchdowns.
Aquinas' victory was their seventh straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 9-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 43.9 points per game. As for Luther Prep, their win bumped their record up to 8-2.
