Softball Recap: Estrella Foothills Takes a Loss

Estrella Foothills was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell 11-8 to the Westview Knights.

Ilse Penaloza Leyva was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off four hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Geneviecia O'Shea was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Jaedene Cruz, who scored two runs while going 1-for-4.

Estrella Foothills' defeat dropped their record down to 2-16. As for Westview, they moved to 4-6 with that victory, which also ended their four-game losing streak.

While Estrella Foothills had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
