Football Game Preview: Oakmont Regional Spartans vs. Lunenburg Blue Knights

After both having extra time off, the Oakmont Regional Spartans and the Lunenburg Blue Knights will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Lunenburg took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Oakmont Regional, who comes in off a win.

Having struggled with six losses in a row, Oakmont Regional turned things around against Gardner last Friday. They were the clear victors by a 42-22 margin over the Wildcats. The Spartans not only won last Friday, but they posted their biggest win since September 13th (when they won 47-13).

The home team had won the previous four meetings between Lunenburg and Narragansett Regional, and Narragansett Regional kept the tradition alive. The Blue Knights fell 27-21 to the Warriors last Friday. The Blue Knights' defeat signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

Lunenburg's loss dropped their record down to 7-3. As for Oakmont Regional, the win was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 3-7.

Everything came up roses for Oakmont Regional against Lunenburg in their previous meeting back in November of 2024, as the squad secured a 46-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Spartans since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
