Baseball Recap: Pathfinder RVT Picks Up Fourth Straight Win at Home

Pathfinder RVT had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 11-run drubbing they dealt Gateway Regional on Monday. The Pioneers blew past the Gators 20-9. The result was nothing new for the Pioneers, who have now won four matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Zander Auffrey was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed four innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Pathfinder RVT let Edward Szostek and Brayden Mega run wild. Szostek got on base in three of his five plate appearances with four stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI, while Mega went 2-for-4 with five stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Szostek also hit a triple, marking his first of the season. Brody Wetnicka was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

Pathfinder RVT's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Gateway Regional, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-3.
