Baseball Game Preview: Dirigo Cougars vs. Mount Abram Roadrunners

The Dirigo Cougars will head out to face off against the Mount Abram Roadrunners at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Dirigo lost 22-1 to Cony on Thursday.

Dirigo saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Colin Waugh, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double. That double was Waugh's first of the season.

Meanwhile, Mount Abram came up short against Monmouth Academy on Monday, falling 7-1. The contest marked the Roadrunners' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

This is the second loss in a row for Mount Abram and nudges their season record down to 2-6. As for Dirigo, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-7.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Dirigo has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Mount Abram struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.6 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

Dirigo might still be hurting after the 9-2 loss they got from Mount Abram in their previous matchup back in May of 2025. Can the Cougars avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
